WhatsApp without phone? Check exciting way to stay connected with friends, family

WhatsApp users can use the messaging app on their laptop or desktop, without the need of their smartphone. Here is how.

WhatsApp tips and tricks: WhatsApp allows users to stay connected with their friends, family and colleagues even without a phone. Yes, you will be able to get the big screen experience that is more comfortable for the eyes and the thumbs. WhatsApp users can now use the messaging app on multiple devices like on their laptop or desktop with the help multi-device feature. The feature will help you access WhatsApp without your smartphone. It can be known that the multi-device feature is available for WhatsApp Web and Desktop versions. According to the information provided by WhatsApp you can use up to four linked devices at a time without the need of keeping the phone online, that is, even if your phone is switched off, you will be able to use WhatsApp on laptop or desktop.

“Your phone doesn’t need to stay online to use WhatsApp on linked devices, but your linked devices will be logged out if you don’t use your phone for over 14 days,” WhatsApp informed. However, you will need your phone to register your WhatsApp account and link new devices. Also, each linked device connects to WhatsApp independently while maintaining the same level of privacy and security through end-to-end encryption.

WhatsApp multi-device feature: Know how to use WhatsApp on laptop or desktop

Step 1:

Open the web browser you use and type WhatsApp Web. You can also download the desktop version of the app.

Step 2:

As you search for WhatsApp Web on the browser, the link for the same will appear on the screen. Click on it.

Step 3:

Once the link will open, you will be able to see a QR code.

Step 4:

You will have to scan the QR code from your smartphone.

Step 5:

In order to scan the QR code, you need to open WhatsApp on your smartphone, click on the three dots available on the top right corner of the app. Then select Linked Devices and tap on Link a device.

Step 6:

You will then see “Scan QR code” written on your WhatsApp screen. Scan the code and your device will get connected or linked.

It can be known that you will need your smartphone for the first time when you connect WhatsApp to your laptop or desktop. After that you will be able to log in to WhatsApp simply by opening WhatsApp Web on your linked device.

WhatsApp multi-device feature: Unsupported features

According to the information provided by WhatsApp, there are certain features that are currently not supported while using WhatsApp on laptop or desktop. The features include:

1. Clearing or deleting chats on linked devices if your primary device is an iPhone.

2. Messaging or calling someone who is using a very old version of WhatsApp on their phone.

3. Viewing live location on linked devices.

4. Creating and viewing broadcast lists on linked devices.

5. Sending messages with link previews from WhatsApp Web.
