WhatsApp users to get Facebook, Instagram like avatars SOON

July 21, 2022 By Fresh News Hub Leave a Comment

WhatsApp stickers will soon have an option to share your personalised avatar with contacts, just like Facebook and Instagram! Know everything here.

If you are an avid social media user of Instagram and Facebook, then you must be aware of the Bitmoji-like avatars – a virtual representation of ourselves on social media. Recently, Meta has introduced 3D Avatars for Facebook, Messenger as well as Instagram, which allows users to create and customize a digital Bitmoji that resembles you. From hair, skin colour, eyes, outfits, to accessories, you can create your own avatar the way you want. Now, Meta-owned WhatsApp is planning to follow! Earlier, WhatsApp had showed its interest in bringing a new feature for video calls that may allow users to replace themselves with a virtual customised avatar.

In the latest report by the WhatsApp update tracker, WabetaInfo confirmed that the instant messaging app is working on avatars, a new way to be ‘you’ on WhatsApp. “Thanks to avatars, you may be able to use an avatar as a mask while placing video calls (but probably it will take a long time before being available to users),” the WabetaInfo report mentioned. So, don’t hold your breath as WhatsApp avatars are not going to be arriving anytime soon.

Not just that, you will be able to use the Avatars as fashion stickers to share with your contacts just like on Instagram or Facebook. The report also announced that in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.16.11 update, the company is still working on its avatars project.

How will WhatsApp users be able to use Avatars?

WabetaInfo’s report also shared a glimpse of how Avatars would be part of the instant messaging app. The shared screenshot showed that “there is a header image at the top of the section: it suggests that the avatars available on WhatsApp are taken from Facebook since they are the same.” Just like Instagram or Facebook, you will be able to customize your avatar in this section to be used as a sticker to share with your contacts. Sadly, the Avatar feature for WhatsApp users is under development, and there is no confirmation when it will be released for users.
