Nothing Phone (1) has been surrounded by controversies ever since it launched a couple of days ago. While the hardware related issues are something the company needs to get on top of, it is working to fix the software issues. Those who have got the Phone (1) already will now see a new system update pop-up, promising a couple of changes as well as updates to the camera performance. Nothing is releasing this update patch to all models across the markets, and those yet to get the handset will have this patch available as a Day 1 update.
The update patch, titled Nothing OS 1.1.0, brings a list of big fixes as well as improvements. The update is available as an OTA patch and users will need to download it to fix the described issues. Those who have had issues with the camera performance of the Nothing Phone (1) will be content with this update, since a lot of issues and complaints are addressed with this patch.
Nothing Phone (1) gets its first BIG update
As part of the update, the camera gets the most improvements. Nothing says that the camera improvements include the ability to use the Glyph lights as a fill light while using Portrait Mode. The camera will also see improved noise reduction and dynamic range in lower light conditions, improved clarity with the ultrawide camera, and consistent colors between the main and ultra-wide cameras.
Nothing Phone (1) will also get a new Tesla control feature, the ability to display your NFTs as widgets on the homescreen, and also the ability to remove the Google Search bar from the homescreen.
Other notable improvements listed here include optimisations to the standby battery drain, improved Face Unlock, and improved reliability of the Glitch interface. Nothing has also updated the phone to the July Security Patch 2022.
With all these updates, the user experience should get better on the Phone (1). However, it is advisable to avoid the early batches of the Phone (1) owing to numerous quality control issues on the manufacturing front, as pointed out by several reports.
