The latest Microsoft update is bringing in changes for Windows 11 Camera app, Media Player app, and the Movies& TV app. Check details here.
Microsoft on Wednesday, July 13th released the Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25158 to the Dev Channel. With the release of the Windows 11 Insider Preview, Microsoft is introducing notification badging with Widgets. In addition to some general changes and improvements, this build includes a good set of fixes too. Along with the new Windows 11 Build, Microsoft has also released updates for multiple built-in Windows 11 apps. The updates include the camera app, the media player app and the Movies and TV app.
“Hello Windows Insiders, we are rolling out updates for Camera and Media Player to Windows Insiders on Windows 11 starting with the Dev Channel,” Microsoft said in a blog post. Here is all you need to know about the Windows 11 update:
1. Windows 11 Camera App
The camera app is getting the most notable changes. Informing about the update, Microsoft said, “The Camera app has been updated to match the beautiful new look and feel of Windows 11. In addition to the existing support for camera, video, document, and whiteboard capture modes, we are excited to introduce QR code and barcode scanning as well.”
2. Windows 11 new Media Player app
The new Media Player app is getting an update to version 11.2206.30.0. With this latest update, Microsoft is adding support for CD ripping as well. “Back in March, we introduced CD playback support to Media Player. With the latest update, we are adding support for CD ripping as well. Supported formats in this release include AAC, WMA, FLAC, and ALAC,” the company said.
3. Windows 11 Movies & TV app
Microsoft has also begun to roll out an update to the Movies & TV app in version 10.22061 and higher to Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel.
According to the information provided by the company, it has improved the Movies & TV experience on Arm64 devices. Now users will be able to see faster and better performance while using the app.
Also, Microsoft is migrating video file type associations from Movies & TV to Media Player. This migration will only impact file types that are already associated with Movies & TV and only after you open Movies & TV for the first time.
