iPhone 13 Mini has not featured in the top 10 top selling smartphones on the Counterpoint Research table. Is this why Apple will kill it soon?
Do NOT kill the iPhone 13 Mini! This has been the cry from a small group of people on Twitter who love rocking compact smartphones. The iPhone 12 Mini last year initiated a series of compact yet powerful smartphones and the iPhone 13 Mini succeeded it in the iPhone 13 generation. However, with the iPhone 14 generation, rumours have it that Apple is replacing the Mini iPhone with a Max variant, having a display of 6.7-inches. With multiple tipsters saying the same, everyone wonders why Apple could do it.
Recently, the Counterpoint Research report revealed the list of top selling smartphones globally in the month of April 2022. The iPhone 13 range dominated the top spots – iPhone 13 had the most share, followed by the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. 2020’s iPhone 12 also featured in the fourth spot and the most affordable iPhone SE 2022 took up the seventh spot. Interestingly, there was no mention of the iPhone 13 Mini anywhere. What does this mean?

Is iPhone 13 Mini getting axed due to poor sales?
That certainly seems to be the case. The iPhone 13 Mini is currently the most affordable model in the iPhone 13 range, starting at almost Rs. 10000 lesser than the base iPhone 13 128GB. By logic, that should make it the higher selling model, considering the iPhone 13 Mini is barely any different to the iPhone 13 other than its size, display and battery capacity.
However, a low price is sometimes not enough and it is easy to assume the reasons behind the iPhone 13 Mini not making it to the list.
-The iPhone 13 Mini despite having the lowest price in the iPhone 13 range is still a pricey phone by all means. At Rs. 69,990 for the base variant, buyers prefer a phone with at least a 6-inch display, which Android rivals and even the iPhone 12 offers for similar or lower price.
-The 5.4-inch display isn’t as practical to live with in the real world, especially with the notch eating up the space. Moreover, the standard refresh rate of 60Hz is another deterrent for enthusiasts.
-The battery capacity is lower than the iPhone 13. In our review, the iPhone 13 Mini could last an entire day with cautious usage. The iPhone 13 can outdo it easily.
-Compact phone buyers get a much better deal with the iPhone SE 2022, which is much cheaper and offers the same 5G connectivity as well as a comfy compact form factor.
